Audra McDonald Comes to NJPAC

New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) presents Audra McDonald - Broadway's only six-time Tony Award winner - returns in an afternoon of Songs from the American Musical Theater. Without question, Audra McDonald is one of the brightest stars ever to hit Broadway. She's won six Tony Awards, more performance wins than any other actor, and is the only person to win in all four acting categories. In addition to her consistently brilliant stage work, McDonald has also lent her talents to television (Private Practice) and the big screen (opposite Meryl Streep in Ricki and the Flash, and as part of the stellar cast of Disney's 2016 Beauty and the Beast).

On four acclaimed CDs and on the concert stage, McDonald has developed an eclectic repertoire that draws from Broadway, American standards, and contemporary pop. She might move in a beat from Rodgers & Hammerstein to Elvis Costello - and whatever she takes on, her delivery is singular. For this concert, she will be accompanied by Andy Einhorn (piano), Mark Vanderpoel (bass) and Gene Lewin (drums).

"Audra McDonald stuns upon entrance, exit and everything else," says The Los Angeles Times. "It is entirely possible that she is the greatest singer alive," says New York Magazine.
