Atlantic City Ballet To Hold Audition For THE NUTCRACKER

Yes, it's Christmas time for AC Ballet. So grab your mistletoe and candy canes and get ready for Nutcracker children's auditions. In its 34th year, the Atlantic City Ballet is preparing to give area dance students an opportunity to work alongside its professional company of dancers. It is an opportunity most students will never forget and memories that will last a lifetime. Over the past 34 years, Ms. Papa, the company's Founder and Artistic Director, has cast over a thousand children in the ballet's production. The tradition will continue this year with performances at Stockton Performing Arts Center and the Circus Maximus Theater at Caesars Hotel in Atlantic City. In addition, the company will also be returning to The Strand Theater in Lakewood and will be accompanied by the Garden State Philharmonic.

Auditions will be Saturday September 10, 2016 at the ACBT Performing Arts Academy. All local dance students are encouraged to audition.

Founded in 1982, by International Ballerina, Phyllis Papa, the Atlantic City Ballet is comprised of professional dancers from around the world and have earned national acclaim for their technical expertise and exuberant stage presence.

Although their home base is in Historic Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, the Ballet has performed in theaters all along the east coast. Their repertoire of original works includes such classics as A Midsummer Night's Dream, Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake but Ms. Papa is most known for her innovative works such as Dracula, Caught Up In The Swing and her full length Carmen. Since its inception, the Atlantic City Ballet has served as one of the cultural treasures of New Jersey and continues a tradition of dance excellence for future generations of ballet audiences.

1:00pm- Mandatory Parents Meeting

1:30- boys 8-12 (no dancing required but some acting experience helpful)

1:45-5-7 year olds

2:15-8 year olds & up (non-pointe)

3:15-10 years old & up (en pointe)

Boys who are cast will NOT be required to dance. All rehearsals will take place at the Academy.

Auditions will be held in the form of a class, no advance preparation is needed. Boys ages 8-12 who are interested in being in the Nutcracker as extras for the party scene should attend the auditions or call the AC Ballet office at 609-348-7201.
