7TH ANNUAL HUB CITY SOUNDS Free Festival in New Brunswick 8/25 to 10/14

New Brunswick Cultural Center/Arts New Brunswick presents the seventh annual Hub City Sounds series, taking place this summer from August 25 through October 14. This FREE family-friendly series is a performing, visual, CULINARY arts festival with events for all tastes.

This year's Hub City Sounds events include the 3rd Annual Caribbean Festival on August 25, Rock New Brunswick on September 8, the 3rd Annual Indo-American Festival / Yoga Festival on September 9, the 6th Annual Central Jersey Jazz Festival on September 15, the 39th Raritan River Festival on September 30, and Hub City Sounds at Ciclovia for the 4th Annual Corazon Latino Festival on October 14. Admission is FREE of charge for all Hub City Sounds events.

"We are extremely proud to bring back Hub City Sounds, now celebrating its 7th year, to the wonderful city of New Brunswick," said Tracey O'Reggio Clark, Interim Executive Director of the New Brunswick Cultural Center. "With the range of vibrant events that Hub City Sounds presents, from hip hop, punk rock to jazz, from reggae to Latin rock, from duck races to yoga, and everything in between, we have truly put together a festival that showcases the rich pride and diversity of our region."

A festival for all ages, the Hub City Sounds series includes a variety of activities for kids including a moon castle, face painters, henna, petting zoos, canvas painting, and interactive aerialist participation. Locations for this year's festival include Boyd Park, Joyce Kilmer Park, and on Livingston Avenue in downtown New Brunswick.

Festivalgoers are welcome to bring blankets or chairs for lawn seating at park events, and refreshments and retail will be available to purchase. The festival includes collaborations with the city of New Brunswick, New Brunswick City Center, New Brunswick Free Public Library, coLAB Arts, New Brunswick Department of Recreation, Esparanza Neighborhood Coalition, Middlesex Chamber of Commerce, Civic League of Greater New Brunswick, Rutgers Center for Latino Arts and Culture, Rutgers Collaborative, New Brunswick Jazz Project, Kalyanni, Hub City Jazz Festival, TEMPO Networks, CPR Live, United Caribbean American Network of New Jersey, Indo-American Festival and many more. Free parking is available for the Boyd Park events, exactly one block away at the Rutgers Public Safety Building, located at 55 Commercial Avenue.

3rd Annual Caribbean Festival

Saturday, August 25, 1pm to 7pm

At Boyd Park, Rt. 18 North

Revel in the island vibes featuring Caribbean cuisine, music and dance performances including reggae, soca, and calypso.

Rock New Brunswick

Saturday, September 8, 1pm to 6pm

At Boyd Park, Rt. 18 North

Featuring punk music and entertainment, plus Latin Rock and Afro Punk performances.

3rd Annual Indo-American Festival / Yoga Festival

Sunday, September 9, 1pm to 6pm

At Boyd Park, Rt. 18 North

Featuring mouthwatering treats, live music, and theatrical performances inspired by the rich culture and traditions from Northern and Southern India. The festival also includes educational Yoga demonstrations and classes.

6th Annual Central Jersey Jazz Festival

Saturday, September 15, 1pm-6pm

On George Street (between Livingston Avenue & Bayard Street)

Featuring a jazz collaboration between three communities in three different counties including Flemington, New Brunswick, and Somerville.

39th Raritan River Festival

Rubber Duck Race

Sunday, September 30, 11am-5:30pm

At Boyd Park, Route 18 North

Enjoy a celebration of community featuring live music, vendors, the New Brunswick Community Farmers Market, activities for children, cardboard canoe races, and much more. The day will culminate with The Beez Foundation's annual Rubber Duck Drop into the Raritan River, with prizes for the winners.

Hub City Sounds at Ciclovia

4th Annual Corazon Latino Festival

Sunday, October 14, 11am-4pm

At Joyce Kilmer Park, 143 Joyce Kilmer Avenue

Enjoy our carnival themed adventure showcasing rich Latino and Caribbean culture filled with traditional cultural dances, music, visual arts displays and much more
