Deborah Sampson, the first woman to professionally fight in and be honorably discharged from the American Military, captivates audiences in an Immersive Living History Experience chronicling her life. An indentured servant by age five, Deborah grew up in a man’s world, where women were naught but second-class British subjects. As a self-educated, masterless woman, she felt a higher calling, and in the final years of the American War for Independence, Deborah bound her chest, tied back her hair, and enlisted in the 4th Massachusetts Regiment of the Continental Army, as “Robert Shurtlieff.” Deborah's passion will take you back in time!
A Revolution of Her Own!™, the inspirational story of America’s first professional female soldier Deborah Sampson, has been performed over 2,500 times across the country and virtually, receiving accolades from journalists, actors, CEOs, & historians, and earning a standing ovation Off-Broadway, on 42nd Street, NYC. It was thrice named as one of the “Top 7 Things to Do in NYC” by The New York Times.
This meet and greet with Deborah Sampson and ABRIDGED performance of A Revolution of Her Own!™ takes place Sunday, June 14, 2026, at 1:00 pm ET at The American Independence Center, 1 Governor’s Lane, Exeter, NH. This event is sponsored by The Racial Unity Team of New Hampshire.
A Revolution of Her Own!™ is rated PG. Suitable for all ages and family-friendly.
