Seacoast Repertory Theatre (the Rep), the State's only year-round professional theatre, announced today the purchase of The Mill Pond Center in Durham, NH. The property was sold by Federal Savings Bank and was listed by Lee Ann Parks at RE/MAX All Points Realty in Durham. This unique property, located near downtown Durham, NH, has been used as a local arts center in the past and will provide the Rep with an unprecedented opportunity to expand its programming and serve more people throughout the Seacoast region by providing quality educational and performing arts experiences. "Federal Savings Bank is pleased the Rep purchased this historic building and plans to expand their services in Durham. The community will benefit greatly from the addition of such a vibrant organization," according to FSB Senior Vice President, David McArdle.

The 17 acre, multi-structure site features office and classroom space, attached and detached garages, a converted barn with a dance studio, a third floor theatre, three residential apartments, and a state-of-the-art catering kitchen. "We are extraordinarily excited to be the new stewards of this historic and unique property," stated Stefany Shaheen, the Rep's Managing Director. "We are engaged in a strategic expansion, one that encompasses the growth of educational programs, workshops, performances, and building a loyal and broad subscriber base. Adding the Mill Pond Center is another important step in our growth and underscores our unflagging commitment to deliver compelling performing arts programming to the region."

While most programs run at the Mill Pond Center will be offered and run by the Rep, the facility will also be made available to unaffiliated organizations and artists. The Rep's management expects that, in addition to its own programming, the center will also offer classes in a wide range of areas such as dance, pottery and yoga. In addition to the expansion of educational programming, the Rep plans to use the facility for set construction, rehearsals and performers' housing, previously located at 50 State Rd. in Kittery Maine. The property located on 50 State Road is currently being offered for sale by the Rep and is listed through David Choate at Grubb & Ellis Coldstream Real Estate Advisors.

Founded in 1987, SEACOAST REPERTORY THEATRE is a not-for-profit arts and educational organization, which has been entertaining, enlightening and engaging audiences as New Hampshire's only year-round professional theatre for decades. Winner of countless regional and local awards, the Rep offers a complete schedule of award-winning musicals, plays and youth productions as well as educational opportunities for all ages with its youth workshops, classes, camps and Senior Moments programs.
