Seacoast Rep Moves Into New Rehearsal and Performance Space at Kittery Community Center
Kittery - The Seacoast Repertory Theatre, a non profit regional theater headquartered at 125 Bow Street in Portsmouth has signed a lease with the Kittery Community Center in order to expand their programming.
The space will be used to hold rehearsals for productions, expanded programming, as well as Portsmouth Academy of Performing Arts camps and classes. It replaces a studio at 1 Raynes Avenue in Portsmouth that the Rep had been renting.
"We were spending more on our studio space than we were at our theater," says Executive Director Kathleen Cavalaro. "On top of all of the other benefits, like free parking and utilities, we're saving about $1600 a month moving to this new space."
The Rep will also be utilizing the Star Theater at the Center for auxiliary productions in addition to their regular Mainstage programming.
"Our biggest problem was space," says Interim Artistic Director Jamie Bradley. "We've added essentially an affordable Second Stage that allows all of our programs room to grow. We can continue to expand productions beyond our main stage."
The Rep will be announcing 2019 programming and shows in early October.
The Seacoast Repertory Theatre is a 501(c)3 non-profit theatre committed to providing a variety of programming for the community. The Rep presents professional programming through its Mainstage, alternative programming through its Red Light Series and also offers a variety of programs for youth and seniors.
