Maya Days, Sebastian Arcelus, Saycon Sengbloh, Anika Larsen & More to Appear in RAISE THE ROOF! Benefit Performance, 4/20

By:

The Weathervane Theatre Alumni Association will present an evening of songs and stories entitled Raise the Roof! Recover, Rebuild, Rejoice! at Joe's Pub on Monday, April 30, 2012 at 9:30pm.

Performers scheduled to appear include Maya Days (Aida, Rent, Jesus Christ Superstar, FX's Damages), Sebastian Arcelus (Jersey Boys, Elf), Saycon Sengbloh (Fela! Hair, Wicked), Tom D'Angora (Divas I've Done, NEWSical The Musical), Anika Larsen (Myths and Hymns, Rent, All Shook Up, Xanadu), Charlie Alterman (Godspell, Next to Normal), Bryonha Parham (Porgy and Bess, Ragtime), Kelly McCeary (Passing Strange, MTV's I Just Want My Pants Back), Josh Tower (The Lion King, Ragtime), Kevin Smith Kirkwood (…Spelling Bee, Kinky Boots), Tally Sessions (South Pacific, Legally Blonde) and Nicole Lewis (Rent, Lennon, Hair).

The Weathervane Theatre presented its first season in 1966 and remains the nation's only alternating repertory summer theatre offering a different show every night. Theater alumni scheduled the benefit to raise the funds needed to replace the 19th century barn that was the site of the original theatre and in recent years housed the scene shop, dressing rooms, set pieces, tools and the entire children's theater inventory.

"Losing the Old Barn was a great loss, both to our theater in New Hampshire and to our extended Weathervane family in New York City," said Artistic Director Jacques Stewart. "We typically hire our company of 11 actors from New York's large pool of union talent. When our Alumni Association heard about the fire, the response was immediate. This benefit on April 30th will ensure our 2012 summer season goes up without a hitch on July 7th."

Tickets for Raise the Roof! are available for $30, $50 and $100. $100 tickets include a special Raise the Roof gift bag. Tickets can be purchased at the Joe's Pub box office, 425 Lafayette Street. The phone number is (212) 539-8778.
