Golden Dragon Acrobats Bring CIRQUE ZIVA to Capitol Center for the Arts Tonight
Golden Dragon Acrobats bring a spectacular family-friendly performances to the Capitol Center for the Arts tonight, March 5 at 7pm with Cirque. Cirque Zíva, a technically innovative, beautiful new show from the artistic director of the Golden Dragon Acrobats, features a large, athletic cast and spectacular scenic and lighting elements. With superb artistic merit, high production values, and a solid commitment to cultural exchange, Cirque Zíva demonstrates why the Golden Dragon Acrobats have been recognized as the preeminent Chinese acrobatic company touring the United States.
Hailing from China's Hebei province, the company includes athletes, actors and artists who have all studied and trained in their craft since early childhood. Cirque Zíva honors the rich Chinese acrobatics tradition while blending contemporary music with amazing feats of athleticism and daring heart-stopping stunts that are sure to entertain, delight, and mesmerize audiences of all ages.
Of special note is Cirque Zíva Lighting Director Tony Tucci, the recipient of two B. Iden Payne Awards and Critics Table awards for lighting, with credits including the video "Baryshnikov, Dancer and The Dance" and 1996 Summer Olympics Cultural Olympiad showcase.
Golden Dragon Acrobats earned two New York Drama Desk Award nominations for the company's 2005 Broadway run at the New Victory Theater (Angela Chang for Outstanding Choreography and Danny Chang for Most Unique Theatrical Experience).
