Adapted and directed by Payton McCarthy from Edmond Rostand's classic, this modern retelling follows poetic soldier Cyrano de Bergerac, who ghostwrites love letters for the inarticulate Christian to win the affection of Roxane. The production features Evan Taylor Williams as Cyrano, Maggie Hernandez as Roxane, and Austin Jeffrey Smith as Christian, along with Brett Lemmers, Rebecca Harding, Scott Karan, E. Roy Lee, Luke McGuire, Isabel Smith and Ellen Joy Vernier. The play serves as the headlining production of Watershed Public Theatre's Riverwalk Arts Festival, staged outdoors with a grungy, modern tone. Each evening includes food trucks and pre-show entertainment before the play begins.
