OZ Arts Nashville presents the 5th annual Brave New Works Lab, running May 14-16, featuring four original works from local contemporary dance and performance artists. The program includes new group dance works by EbonE Amos, whose piece juxtaposes traditional spirituals with Afro-contemporary movement, and Lenin Fernandez, who uses the imagery of water to explore aging, grief, and memory with performers including Becca Hoback, McKay House, and Amanda Reichert, among others. Nashville newcomers Jennie Liu and Andrew Gilbert bring an electro-futuristic chamber operetta to the stage alongside indie artist Hannah Dorfman, while Amanda Reichert and playwright Emmalee Manes collaborate on a dance-theater work exploring the interior of an author's imagination, with Saúl Rodriguez in the lead role. Each evening presents all four short works on a single program, offering a broad look at some of the city's most cutting-edge artistic voices.
