The Tennessee Arts Commission has issued a call for applications for its Individual Artist Fellowships for Fiscal Year 2013  (July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013).

Applications must be submitted electronically (online) and postmark or hand deliver printed copies with supporting documents to the Tennessee Arts Commission office by Monday, January 23, 2012 by 4:30 p.m. (CST).

Awards are designed to recognize professional artists - those individuals who by education, experience or natural talent engage in a particular art form or discipline. Artists awarded fellowships are outstanding professionals who excel in their chosen discipline, while living and working in Tennessee.

No matching funds are required and no specific project has to be carried out with the funds. The Commission anticipates that each fellowship will be $5,000.

In the coming year, the Commission may award up to two fellowships in each of the following performing arts disciplines: Theater (you may apply in acting or directing); Dance (you may apply in either solo performance or choreography); and Music (solo instrumental performance).  Other fellowship opportunities exist in Visual Arts, Craft, and Media and Literary disciplines.

Fellowship applicants must be at least 18 years of age, legally reside in Tennessee at the time of application with a permanent Tennessee mailing address. Individuals may apply in only one fellowship category each fiscal year.

Those artists who have received full or partial fellowships in the past may not reapply for a fellowship.

New this year, all sample work or audition material will be submitted on DVD.  Audition and sample work criteria for each discipline can be found in the "Individual Artist Fellowship Instructions" at: http://www.tn.gov/arts/guidelines/fy13/FY13_IAF_Application_Instructions_FINAL.pdf.
