TPAC Partners with Nashville Public Library Foundation for Book Drive During BULLETS OVER BROADWAY and MATILDA Runs
By: Nora Dominick
The nonprofit Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC) will partner with the Nashville Public Library Foundation in support of the foundation's Summer Challenge program for Nashville youth in need.
TPAC audience members are invited to donate new children's books (for ages 5-10) at the TPAC Box Office during any performance of BULLETS OVER BROADWAY, running November 10-15, 2015, and any performance of MATILDA THE MUSICAL, running January 26-31, 2016. TPAC will offer those who donate a book a special discount for future ticket purchases. "Matilda The Musical is about a young girl whose foundation is built upon the adventures she takes by reading books. We felt a partnership with the Nashville Public Library Foundation was a wonderful way to underscore just how fun reading can be," said Kathleen O'Brien, TPAC president and chief executive officer. "There is a great need for books for our community's youth. We hope the small but mighty Matilda will inspire our patrons to share their love of reading and participate in this book drive." Winner of 50 international awards including four Tony Awards and a record-breaking seven Olivier Awards including Best Musical, MATILDA THE MUSICAL is based on the beloved novel by best-selling author Roald Dahl (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Fantastic Mr. Fox). It is the story of an extraordinary girl who dreams of a better life and, armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, dares to take a stand and change her destiny.Videos
