ONE SHOW IN ENGLISH, AND THREE IN CHIAC - Tale | Performance TEASER : https://vimeo.com/1044805648 Conte bright comme un diamond is a contemporary show based on a centuries-old Acadian tale. This show is original folklore: the genuine medieval plot of the tale has been kept intact, with its grandma fairy vibes, its flying islands, and its magical sex work. The story is delivered the folklore way, too: true to the art of taletelling, Fano Maddix addresses the audience directly and improvises without text, using their trickster twists. Alongside them, composer and violinist Abèle Kildir creates hyperpop and enchanted atmospheres on stage. Conte bright comme un diamond is an invitation to be touched by an ancient tale, and to experience a collective (re)connection with Acadian oral tradition. Because folklore doesn’t care what anyone says: it knows it’s glorious, timeless, and queer. Fano Maddix is an Acadian storyteller from Moncton, New Brunswick. They build on the legacy of oral tradition, shining a contemporary light upon the Acadian folklore’s queer and ecofeminist nooks and crannies. Since their last show, Le haricot magique, adaptation sci-fi burlesque (2022), they have been teaming up with transdisciplinary collaborators in their creative work. Fano has been sharing their tales in Québec (FURIES, Rendez-vous des Grandes Gueules, Théâtre À tour de rôle, Festival international du conte Jos Violon), Acadie (Festival acadien de poésie, Festival Parlures d’icittes) and France (Festival Le Goût des langues, Rendez-vous contes Fontenay). They are anchored both in the storytelling scene and in contemporary performing arts. Ten years ago, Fano built themselves a little house in an intentional community in Gespege’wa’gi (Gaspésie). They still live there, surrounded by friends and in the company of their dog, Heidi.
