Nominations for 2013 Sally Awards Now Being Accepted

By:

Ordway Center for the Performing Arts announced today that nominations for the 2013 Sally Ordway Irvine Awards are being accepted through January 31, 2014. These prestigious awards, now in their 22nd year, provide an opportunity to recognize and honor extraordinary achievements in the arts throughout Minnesota.

"Minnesota is renowned for the depth and breadth of its artistic life, from the Arrowhead region to the Minnesota River Valley and everywhere in between," said Patricia A. Mitchell, Ordway president and CEO. "Every year, the Sally Awards recognize the outstanding creative talents of individuals and organizations that make this such a vibrant place to live. We rely on nominations provided by individuals from throughout Minnesota who wish to nominate one of their favorite artists, administrators and advocates for these awards."

Each year, one person or organization receives an award in each of the following categories: Arts Access, Education, Commitment, Vision and Initiative. Last year's winners were David J. Fraher and Arts Midwest (Arts Access); Hillcrest Community School (Education); Anthony Caponi (Commitment); Jimmy Longoria (Vision); and Faye M. Price and Noël Raymond (Initiative).

Nominations for the 2013 awards are being accepted through January 31, 2014. Individuals and organizations from any artistic or cultural field are eligible, as long as their work took place in Minnesota. Nominees may be artists, professional administrators, volunteers, philanthropists, or organizations.

After all entries have been received, a selection committee reviews the nominations and selects the five award winners, who will be honored at the Sally Awards ceremony at the Ordway on June 9, 2014.

Nomination forms and additional information are available online at www.ordway.org/sallyawards.

The Sally Awards are funded, in part, by the Minnesota State Arts Board through the arts and cultural heritage fund as appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature with funds from the Legacy Amendment. The Ordway also wishes to acknowledge Minnesota Public Radio for its long-standing support of these awards.
