Hennepin Theatre Trust announced today that Linda Eder, the Minnesota vocalist and actress raised in Brainerd who went from a record breaking debut on "Star Search" to sing at Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, will serve as spokesperson for the Trust's SpotLight Musical Theatre Program. SpotLight celebrates students who excel in their high school musical and provides educational support to the schools who participate. Eder can testify to the impact and value of young people in arts education and will star in "Home for the Holidays," a concert at the Pantages Theatre at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 21 backed by a choir of SpotLight students. For more information on the SpotLight Program or tickets to her show, visit www.HennepinTheatreTrust.org.
"Linda Eder is a fantastic example of someone who used the skills she gained from participating in performing arts while growing up to become a successful and positive role model for our SpotLight students," said Tom Hoch, President/CEO of Hennepin Theatre Trust. "We are thrilled to have a professional of Linda's caliber recognize the importance of the SpotLight Program." Eder participated in musical theatre during her years at Brainerd High School, performing in shows including The Emperor's New Clothes and The Sound of Music, and often sang solos as part of school choir concerts. "As a student at Brainerd High School, participating in musical theatre and choir was so important that it helped define my life and provided vital skills for a fulfilling and successful career in the arts," says Eder. "As the new SpotLight Musical Theatre Program Spokesperson, I'm honored to share this experience with other students who've discovered the same joy and passion and pleased to join Hennepin Theatre Trust in fostering Minnesota's next generation of young talent."Videos
