Bloomington Theatre and Art Center will bring back Striking 12, a Bloomington Civic Theatre (BCT) holiday production directed by Christine Weber. Performances are Friday, Dec. 13 - Sunday, Dec. 29 with a special performance on Dec. 31.

With actors doubling as musicians, Striking 12 is a concert-with-a-story musical event that is sure to become a holiday classic. Striking 12 weaves a modern-day New Year's Eve into Hans Christian Andersen's classic fable "The Little Match Girl." This unique hybrid of musical theater and live concert tells the story of a grumpy, overworked New Yorker whose resolve to spend New Year's Eve alone crumbles when an unexpected visitor brings some much-needed cheer. The show springs to life through an eclectic score of new music with roots in classical, musical theater, jazz and rock. Striking 12 was co-created by Brendan Milburn and Valerie Vigoda's partnership GrooveLily and Tony Award-winning writer Rachel Sheinkin who wrote the book of our upcoming Schneider Theater production, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. BCT is excited to announce that several LES MISERABLES lead actors are cast for this year's Striking 12! Molly Jo Hall (Cosette) and Dominique Wooten (Enjolras) are joining Aly Westberg (Eponine) who returns to play The Little Match Girl. BCT is excited to share with patrons these amazing voices in our intimate Black Box theater.

Ring in the New Year by attending the final benefit performance of Striking 12 on Dec. 31 at 7:30pm. The $50 ticket price includes the performance and post-show reception with the cast. The funds we raise will help pay for the hundreds of free theater tickets we provide every year, bringing the wonder of live theater to the next generation of theater lovers. Through our partnerships with Hillcrest Community School and Project Success, we ensure arts access for children and families of all backgrounds. Many of these young people get their first introduction to live theater through BTAC. Striking 12 is appropriate for youth as well as adults and is a great way to celebrate New Year's Eve in a family-friendly setting. Enjoy a highly entertaining, critically acclaimed holiday production while supporting a worthwhile cause.

Admission is $22 for Adults, $20 for Seniors (age 62+), $17 for ages 25 and under and $50 for the December 31 Performance/Fundraiser reception. For Tickets please call the Bloomington Theatre and Art Center Box Office at 952-563-8575 or visit online at btacmn.org.
