Tiny Beautiful Things Adapted for the stage by Nia Vardalos Based on the book by Cheryl Strayed
When life doesn’t come with answers, we turn to someone who might help us find the right questions. Based on the best-selling book by Cheryl Strayed, Tiny Beautiful Things brings to life the raw, heart-wrenching, and unexpectedly funny letters sent to “Sugar,” an anonymous advice columnist with a wounded past and fierce compassion. As Sugar responds with honesty, warmth, and vulnerability, her own story emerges—and with it, a reminder that healing is a shared journey. Poetic, powerful, and deeply human, Tiny Beautiful Things is a celebration of empathy, resilience, and the beautiful mess of being alive.
Staged Reading Rating: PG-13 Audience advisory: Tiny Beautiful Things contains mature content and themes that may be triggering or emotionally intense for some audience members. These subjects are explored with great compassion and empathy, but viewer discretion is advised. Specific content includes: Frequent use of strong and explicit language. References to sexual experiences and trauma. Themes of grief and loss, including the death of loved ones and children. Stories involving sexual abuse, domestic violence, and addiction. Discussions around mental health, including depression, self-harm, and suicidal ideation.

Located in the heart of downtown Hartland, Lake Country Playhouse is a cleverly converted Masonic Lodge that houses an 82-seat black box theatre, scenic, paint, and costume shops, and The Playhouse Performing Arts Academy. Together, this facility serves as a vibrant artistic hub in Lake Country which produces compelling dramas, powerful classics, full scale musicals, an annual production of A Christmas Carol, and exceptional youth programming in an intimate, signature style.
