GHOSTS by Ibsen to Open as Site-Specific Production in Milwaukee Parking Lot
Wisconsin Classic Stage's Joshua Pohja-directed production stars Deborah Stencel and Ben Skwierawski at Calvary Presbyterian Church.
Wisconsin Classic Stage will present GHOSTS by Henrik Ibsen, translated by Ibsen scholars Brian Johnston and Rick Davis. This powerful definitive translation is licensed by Smith & Kraus Publishing. Performances will run July 10-19.
Directed by Josh Pohja (Henry V, The Persians, My Name is Rachel Corrie, All is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914), this daring site-specific production unfolds in the historic Calvary Presbyterian Church Parking Lot where the ghosts of the past collide with the broken pavement paves the realities of today.
Pohja reimagines Ibsen's most controversial play with gripping intensity, drawing powerful parallels between the moral and familial decay in the text and our modern fentanyl crisis. Expect raw truth, cinematic staging, and theatrical bravery that will leave audiences breathless as the sun sets.
The cast will include Deborah Stencel as Mrs. Alving,Ben Skwierawski as Osvald Alving, Cole Castine as Pastor Manders, Ryan Holifield as Engstrand, and Ashley Garcia as Regina.
