Ann Arbor Civic Theatre is proud to present Curtains, with book and additional lyrics by Rupert Holmes, music and additional lyrics by John Kander, and lyrics by Fred Ebb. This production, directed by Jason Smith, runs June 6-9, 2019, at UMs Lydia Mendelssohn Theatre, 911 N. University, Ann Arbor, MI 48109. Performances are Thursday at 7:30 pm, Friday and Saturday at 8pm, with a 2pm matinee on Sunday. Tickets are $28, with tickets at $25 for seniors and $15 for students. On Thursday, tickets remaining when the box office opens at 6:45 will be pay-what-you-can. Tickets and information are available online at www.a2ct.org, through the A2CT office at 734-971-2228, or in limited quantities at the door of the theater before each performance. 1959. When the faded actress collapses and dies after curtain call, Boston detective and musical theatre devotee Lieutenant Frank Cioffi comes on the scene. Can he solve the case, save the show, and stay alive? Come see this lively and funny show within a show to find out!This much-loved backstage murder mystery musical is one of director Jason Smiths favorites. He says The first time I heard a song from the show (The Woman's Dead) I knew I had to direct it. The shows quirky nature is what appealed to him, and he continues I love the show-within-a-show aspect. That the audience gets to see behind the curtain, literally, at the workings of a theatrical troupe is a truly unique experience.If you love seeing theater, and even more so, being in theater, you will love CurtainsMusic direction for Curtains is by Jonathan Sills, with choreography by Stacey Smith. The show stars Jared Hoffert as Lt. Frank Cioffi, Vanessa Banister as Nikki Harris, Sarah Robson as Georgia Hendrix, Trish Fountain as Carmen Bernstein, and Mitchell Gillett as Aaron Fox, with Lily Gechter, Hayden Reboulet, Rob Roy, Matt Rupp, Lori MacDonald, Jimmy Dee Arnold, Rich Roselle, Karl Kasischke, Keith Rikli, Michael Cicirelli, Brad Rondeau, Sara Johnson, Sarah Sweeter, John Lamb, Kennedy Shuck, Sara Mattson, Veronica Long, Vincent Barlow, and Aaron Greunke rounding out the incredibly talented cast.
