One of the world’s favorite dance companies, Alvin Ailey® American Dance Theater grew from a 1958 New York performance and rejuvenated American dance – celebrating the African-American experience and the enrichment of modern dance globally. Judith Jamison, Ailey’s 1989 successor, selected Robert Battle to succeed her in 2011.
