Meadow Brook Theatre Presents THINGS MY MOTHER TAUGHT ME

By:

Meadow Brook Theatre presents Things My Mother Taught Me, Jan. 7-Feb. 1 as the first show of the new year.

Olivia and Gabe are young and in love, and they're sure that moving together from the east coast to Chicago is the perfect next step. Relocating is always a hassle-so many things can go wrong-but what happens when both sets of parent unexpectedly show up, ready to "help?"

"Things My Mother Taught Me," written by Katherine DiSavino, shows what can happen when a whole lot of love comes together in a small apartment. The comedy makes its Michigan premiere at Meadow Brook Theater on the campus of Oakland University from January 7 through February 1, 2015.

"Everyone wants what's best for those they love, especially for their kids," says Travis W. Walter, MBT artistic director. "But on your moving day, just how many loving nuggets of parental wisdom should you be expected to take? Add to the various, hilarious opinions, some twists and turns, and I think everyone will be able to see themselves somewhere in this entertaining adventure."

Newcomer Dani Cochrane plays Olivia, while MBT audience favorite Lucas Wells ("The Andrews Brothers," "Harris Cashes Out") is Gabe. Olivia's parents are played by Debbie Williams and Phil Powers, and Karen Sheridan and Wayne David Parker portray Gabe's parents. The cast is rounded out by Mark Rademacher as Max, the apartment superintendent.

"Things My Mother Taught Me" is directed by Travis W. Walter. Terry Carpenter is the stage manager, with set design by Brian Kessler, costumes by Liz Goodall, lighting by Reid G. Johnson and sound by Mike Duncan.

Tickets range from $26 to $41 and are available by calling the Meadow Brook Theatre box office at 248-377-3300 or going online at www.ticketmaster.com. Student discounts are available at the box office. Groups of eight or more should call 248-370-3316 for group pricing.
