MIFA Announces Schedule For High School State One-Act Competition at Midland Center

The best and brightest high school theatre groups will perform at Midland Center for the Arts during the Michigan Interscholastic Forensics Association (MIFA) High School State One-Act Competition on February 19 - 10:00 am to 8:30 pm; and February 20 - 9:00 am to 5:30 pm. Thirteen high schools from across the state will compete during the two-day competition. To reach the state level, theatre students must first vie in district and regional MIFA competitions.

Friday's productions are scheduled as follows: Beverly Hills Grove's The Jungle Book at 10:00 am, West Bloomfield's 1984 at 11:20 am, Ann Arbor Pioneer's Eurydice at 1:30 pm, Cheseaning's Macbeth at 2:50 pm, Bay City John Glenn's Once On This Island at 4:10 pm, Grand Rapids Christian's Radium Girls at 6:20 pm, and Holland Christian's Rags at 7:40 pm.

Saturday's productions are scheduled as follows: Poe's Midnight Dreary from Olivet at 9am, Holland's Romeo and Juliet at 10:20am, Ada Forest Hills Eastern's Fortress at 11:40 am, Brownstown Woodhaven's The Laramie Project at 2:00 pm, Pigeon Lakers' The Insanity of Mary Girard at 3:20 pm, and Auburn Hills Avondale's The Yellow Boat at 4:40 pm.

The Awards Ceremony will take place at 6:30pm at the end of Saturday's performances at the Midland Center for the Arts, Midland MI.

Performances are each a maximum of 45 minutes; a complete schedule for the weekend's performances will be available on Friday, February 19. Admission is FREE and open to the public.
