HEAD OVER HEELS Will Come to St. Dunstan’s Theatre In Bloomfield Hills
The GO-GO's-scored musical will be staged at the Outdoor Greek Theatre in Bloomfield Hills
St. Dunstan's Theatre Guild will present Head Over Heels, a bold and hilarious jukebox musical featuring the music of The Go-Go's, running May 29–June 13, 2026, at the Outdoor Greek Theatre on the Cranbrook campus in Bloomfield Hills.
Based on The Arcadia by Sir Philip Sidney, with an original book conceived by Jeff Whitty and adapted by James Magruder, Head Over Heels is a vibrant, laugh-out-loud musical packed with the iconic hits of The Go-Go's. When a royal family sets out to outrun a mysterious prophecy, they are swept into a whirlwind adventure filled with mistaken identities, unexpected romance, and self-discovery. Bursting with humor, heart, and infectious energy, the show is a joyful celebration of love, freedom, and being unapologetically yourself.
Director Jerry Haines reflects on the unique opportunity to stage the production in the Greek Theatre: “This is my first time directing for St. Dunstan's and in the Greek Theatre. It just so happens that Head Over Heels fits perfectly in that setting. The show is a combination of two worlds. The language and dialogue at first listen is very old world, but combined with The Go-Go's music of the early 80s and modern day storytelling through musical theatre makes for a rocking good time. Audiences who have no idea or reference to the original play or The Go-Go's music will be pleasantly surprised by how well the two are married to bring an electrifying energy to the Greek.”
The production features a talented cast including Angela VanKempen as Pamela, Jennifer Newton as Philoclea, Andrew Martin as Musidorus, Drew Valimont as Basilius, Randi Hamilton as Gynecia, Alyssa Alonte as Mopsa, Jeff Weiner as Dametas, and Jair Alexander as Pythio. The ensemble includes Brittney Berger, Krystle Carter, Quinn Costello, Deb Dworkin, Elizabeth Fisher, Madeline Flynn, Eric Franz, Chris Jarboe, Sophie Lavallee, AJ Liante, Sara Shook, Benji Timpf, Erica Valimont, and Melissa Willson.
Head Over Heels is directed by Jerry Haines, with Terri Manning serving as Assistant Director. The production is produced by Brittany Lauren and Anne Conlon, with music and vocal direction by Jordan Farr and choreography by Jenna Williams. Justine Dearth serves as Stage Manager. Analissa Thomas is doing hair and makeup with Linda Watson and Janie Minchella leading the Costume committee.
Audiences can expect an unforgettable night of entertainment. As director Jerry Haines put it, “Audiences should see Head Over Heels because they want to laugh and have a good time. They will sing along, possibly dance in their seats, and leave with a better understanding that everyone deserves to live an authentic life and love and be loved without judgement from others. Come see Head Over Heels and see why ‘our BEAT is divine.'”
