A bit of Broadway comes to the American Red Cross Berkley Donor Center on Friday, March 20, 2009. On that day, every presenting donor at the Berkley center will receive two free tickets for “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street” playing at the Fisher Theatre March 17 through April 4.
Presenting donors will also have the chance to meet “Sweeney Todd” cast members who will be on site from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.The American Red Cross Berkley Donor Center is located at 28105 Woodward (Catalpa). Donations hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Appointments are strongly recommended and may be made by calling 1-800-GIVE-LIFE.“Sweeney Todd” is based on a 19th century legend of a barber who forms a “cutthroat” partnership with a woman who soon is making the tastiest meat pies in London. The award-winning show, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, first appeared on Broadway in 1979 and was revived on Broadway in 2005.
