The Girl Choir of South Florida will present “She Sings”. This program will both look back over a decade of singing in South Florida, and also look to the future with the commissioning of a new work for young women’s voices by Nina Gilbert. Girl Choir alumnae will be invited to sing with us in the retrospective segment of the performance, and all current members, from the youngest Primes choristers to the soon-to-be graduating seniors, will be a part of the premiere of our commissioned work. Repertoire will include works by acclaimed women composers, including Joan Szymko, Gwyneth Walker, Eleanor Daley, Libby Larsen, Emma Lou Diemer, and Abbie Betinis. Each choir will explore the beauty and diversity of the female voice through a variety of works from ancient to modern, and from many cultures. “She Sings” will truly be a celebration of the unique, joyous, and powerful experience of girls raising their voices together in song.
