Present Three Webinars from The Foundation Center

October 1, 15 & 28, 2008 at Alvin-Sherman Library, Research and Information

Technology Center, 3100 Ray Ferrero Jr. Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale

Broward Cultural Division invites nonprofit managers, board members and development staff to participate in one, two or three free webinars presented by The Foundation Center and Nova Southeastern University, on October 1, 15 & 28 2008, at The Alvin Sherman Library, Research and Information Technology Center, 3100 Ray Ferrero Jr. Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale. These presentations will be part of National Arts and Humanities Month Creative Conversations initiative.

Every October, in honor of National Arts & Humanities Month, Americans for the Arts partners with emerging leaders from across the country to host Creative Conversations. Last year, more than 1,000 emerging arts leaders participated in 41 locally-hosted Creative Conversation sessions throughout the country, and those leaders continue to be engaged at the national level.

Join presenters and your local colleagues to learn about foundation giving for arts and culture. Gain insights about the latest funding trends from Foundation Center experts and hear about grant-making interests and priorities from some of the nation's top foundations.

For the first webinar on October 1, 2008, 3:00 - 4:30 p.m., facilitator Greg Sidberry, Reference/Outreach, Instruction, Librarian, will be joined by a group of presenters including: Deepa Gupta, Program Officer General Program, The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation; Tommer Peterson, Deputy Director for Programs, Grantmakers in the Arts; Loren Renz, Senior Researcher for Special Projects, The Foundation Center; Cheryl Rosario, Director of Philanthropy, American Express; Elizabeth Slater, Senior Vice President, Grant Program, The Judith Rothschild Foundation, and Moderator, David M. Holmes, Regional Training Coordinator, The Foundation Center. The subject will be FOUNDATION GIVING TRENDS: FOCUS ON ARTS AND CULTURE.

On October 15, 3:00 - 4:30 pm, PROPOSAL WRITING BASICS: The basics of writing a proposal for your nonprofit organization will be the topic of the second presentation and on October 28, 3:00-4:30 pm, GRANTSEEKING BASICS FOR INDIVIDUALS IN THE ARTS will be the third.

Participants who attend the webinars at the Alvin-Sherman Library, Research and Information Technology Center, Lab B, 2nd Floor location will have the added benefits of Question and Answer Sessions, walk-through examples of the programs and Foundation Center Resources by Greg Sidberry after the Webinar sessions are over.
