The Symphonia's 2023-2024 Concert Season to Continue With Fourth Concert EUROPE'S SHORES

The Symphonia will present its fourth concert of its ‘Journey to Discover' earth and environment themed season with ‘Europe's Shores.' The concert will take place on March 17th at 3 p.m. at Roberts Theater at Saint Andrew's School in Boca Raton. The performance will feature artists Alexander Platt and Less Roettges.

Platt has built a unique career spanning the worlds of symphony, chamber music, and opera. He is Music Director of the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra, the Waukegan Symphony Orchestra, and the Wisconsin Philharmonic, and spends his summers as the Music Director of the Maverick Concerts in Woodstock, New York. He also spent twelve seasons as Resident Conductor and Music Advisor at Chicago Opera Theater. A graduate of Yale College, King's College Cambridge (where he was a British Marshall Scholar) and conducting fellowships at both Aspen and Tanglewood, he has guest-conducted countless orchestras across the globe.

Roettges has been the principal flute for the Jacksonville Symphony since 1986.  During the summer he is the principal flute for the Eastern Music Festival, and he is also a member of the six-time Emmy award-winning All-Star Orchestra, led by Maestro Gerard Schwarz.

Before winning the position in Jacksonville, Roettges performed as the principal flute for the Philharmonic Orchestra of Mexico City, Solisti New York, and the Opera Ensemble of New York.

Roettges regularly tours with the San Marco Chamber Music Society. He holds a bachelor's degree from the New England Conservatory and a master's from The Juilliard School.
