The Manatee Players Present RAGTIME This Weekend

By: Jul. 26, 2013

Broadway Bootcamp, The Manatee Players, Inc.'s theatre camp for teens, will present the musical RAGTIME this weekend, July 26 & 27.

Tickets are now available both online and at the ticket office by calling 941-748-5875. Performances are at 7 pm on Friday and Saturday and at 2 pm on Saturday. Performances are being held at the Manatee Performing Arts Center located at 502 3rd Avenue West in downtown Bradenton. Parking is in the city lot located just to the east of the performing arts center.

RAGTIME intertwines the stories of three extraordinary families, as they confront history's timeless contradictions of wealth and poverty, freedom and prejudice, hope and despair and what it means to live in America. Marketing Manager Denny Miller noted "The young people performing this musical have learned a lot about American history and the people who lived it. Add this to the learning experience of putting together a big Broadway show and it's a win win situation for the over 60 young people taking part in the annual camp."

The camp and show have been directed by Kelly Wynn Woodland with Rick Bogner as Musical Director. Broadway Bootcamp is an annual summer camp which teaches the campers theatre skills while putting on a Broadway musical.

The Manatee Players Inc's mission is to represent, enrich and stimulate people through the art of live theatre by providing entertainment, education and an artistic outlet. The Manatee Players and its performance venue, the new Manatee Performing Arts Center, serve as a significant cultural, educational and economic resource for the Florida Gulf Coast region.
