The Lyric Theatre Announces 2 New Shows For May

By: Apr. 02, 2010

The LYRIC THEATRE was built in 1925 as a silent movie house and was operated until the depression when it was closed and eventually sold. Over the next 50 years it was bought and sold to various concerns and used in a variety of manners. In 1978 the theatre was purchased by a non-denominational church and was used for their weekly services until they built a new facility, and no longer needed the structure in downtown Stuart.

Pick This!
May 14th, 2010 - 7pm
Tickets - $25
Pick This! is a night of blues, folk, and modern rock not to be missed. Ben Prestage, HairPeace, Scott Benge, and Ben Lewis will gather together on the Lyric Stage to showcase each of their eclectic styles.
Winding down from a European tour, headliner, Ben Prestage, brings his show back to the Lyric. Wailing the blues with a frenzy and ferocity that could rival a full-blown ensemble, he delivers a passionate blend of Mississippi Delta blues and gritty swamp stomps reflective of his rural upbringing in Central Florida. Playing the guitar, bass, and drums simultaneously, Ben is truly the ultimate One Man Band.
Keeping the music of the acoustic pioneers such as, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Joni Mitchell and CSNY alive, HairPeace welcomes listeners into their own brand of original folk and rock. Local favorites, Scott Benge and Ben Lewis will open the show playing their unique interpretations of classic rock and alternative hits.
Closing with the eight artists' joining together in a collaboration of each of their styles and passion, the stage will teem with music sure to stimulate.
