THE JASON BISHOP SHOW Plays The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall 12/27

By:

Jason Bishop, one of America's hottest and hippest illusionists and magicians, confounds audiences with The Jason Bishop Show, at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall on Sunday, Dec. 27 at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $15-$35 (with a limited number of "smart seats" priced at $10).

The international award-winning artist combines the best in contemporary music with fast-paced illusions to dazzle the senses. From his breathtaking double levitation to his cutting-edge op-art and plasma illusions, Bishop showcases some of the most stunning and original state-of-the-art magic seen on any stage. Each show features award-winning sleight-of-hand, exclusive grand illusions and close-up magic projected onto a huge movie screen.

As one critic describes, "He touches the audience with a snow-filled theater and piques their imaginations when a borrowed dollar bill generously transforms into a one hundred dollar bill."
Bishop was the youngest person to win the Magician's Alliance of Eastern States Stage Award and one of the youngest people to compete in the Society of American Magicians World-Class competition. In 2007, he was recognized by his peers when he was awarded magic's prestigious "Jack Gwynne award for Excellence in Presentation." The previous year he was voted "Best Performing Artist of the Year" by the Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities (APCA).

The Jason Bishop Show is sponsored by Boar's Head and the Herald-Tribune Media Group.

Set along Sarasota's beautiful bayfront, the landmark Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall is celebrating its 40th anniversary of entertaining audiences with a variety of music, dance, theater, comedy and children's shows. Its mission is to present a broad spectrum of the world's finest performing artists in order to meet the diverse cultural needs of all of Southwest Florida's residents and visitors. The Van Wezel is also committed to bringing visiting artists into the community for meaningful education and outreach programs.
