Parade Productions to Offer Staged Reading of SINGLE MOTHER'S SOCIETY, 11/17
Parade Productions will light the lights this 2014/2015 season with a lineup of versatile and talented playwrights. On November 17, 2014 at 7:30pm there will be a free staged reading of Single Mother's Society (working title), penned by South Florida playwrights David Michael Sirois, Mark Della Ventura and Gabriel Hammad. Imagine a world where in order to "undo" the tying of the matrimonial knot, the ceremony has to be re-enacted ... in reverse. Seattle based playwright Holly Arsenault creates such a world of divorce drama in her dramedy, Undo, which will open on January 29th and will run throughMarch 1st, 2015.
Directed by Kim St. Leon, Undo will feature Katie Amadeo, Todd Bruno, Candace Caplin, Michael Gioia and Carbonell - Award winning actress Margot Moreland. Arsenault is the recipient of the 2013 Theater Puget Sound Gregory Award for an Outstanding New Play as well as the 2014 Seattle Theater Writers Gypsy Rose Lee Award for Excellence in Local Playwriting. Arsenault has passionately taken on the role of Executive Director for Seattle's TeenTix (www.teentix.org ), a non-profit organization that focuses on empowering young people to take an active role in shaping their arts community as audience members, critics, influencers, advocates, patrons, and leaders. Parade Productions and Arsenault will be sharing her strong sense of the importance of community in the arts by conducting a free young playwright's workshop on Saturday, January 31st from 12pm to 3pm at The Studio at Mizner Park. Arsenault believes, "Playwriting is really an ideal art form for young people to explore because writing dialogue and imagining scenarios for people who aren't you is a great way to exercise and strengthen your empathy. It's also a safe way to test out different identities and life paths, which is basically your whole job when you're a teenager. It's also really fun. I'm excited to talk with the playwriting students in Boca Raton and hear what's occupying their brains right now. I want them to feel empowered to write about whatever is interesting to them. If we want more young people coming to theatre, we need more young people writing theatre." Undo will open on January 29th and will run through March 1st, 2015 with performances Thursday through Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m., and Wednesdaysand Sundays at 3 p.m. Ticket prices are $35 ($30 for groups of 15 or more). The Studio at Mizner Park is located at 201 Plaza Real, Second Floor, Boca Raton, FL 33432. For tickets and information, visit www.paradeproductions.org, or by calling 866-811-4111.
