"PICTURE INCOMPLETE" is an electrically-charged-gospel-drenched-hit-em-fast-and-hit-em-hard-one-man musical which merges the storytelling styles of Whoopi Goldberg, Dennis Miller, Bill Cosby, Spalding Gray and Bette Midler.
About the courage it takes to look at a situation honestly, call it for what it is, and clean it up;
the musical is entitled "PICTURE INCOMPLETE" because Mr. Kendall has become convinced that nothing is ever finished!
The show opens when a desperate, black, middle-aged New Yorker drags his memories to the curb for closer examination.
He begins a journey of self-discovery told through monologues, character studies and songs.
We meet Clarence (a homeless man), Mavis (a know-it-all neighbor) and her two sons De Ron (a pretend thug)and Fred Jr. (an emerging gay fashion designer living life on his own terms).
We also spend time with a pill-pushing psychiatrist called Dr. Feelgood and prophetic preacher called
Righteous Reverend who urges his congregation to "Be Incomplete!"
Directed by Greg Ganakas, the musical's soaring score has been written by an as yet undiscovered genius called MICHAEL POLESE.
Mr. Kendall has written the book for this rousing celebration
in which he delivers a story packed with some of the
most memorably unique characters on earth and on stage.
There are revival meetings, there are Broadway musicals,
there are major concerts
and there is
"PICTURE INCOMPLETE".
And, as with any durable work of art, it is the AUDIENCE that completes it.
