Mad Cat finishes up its 18th season with it's a new iteration of the popular MIXTAPE short form performance series, entitled: NOSTALGIA Part 1: Be Kind, Rewind. This mixed media production aims to darkly satirize white male nostalgia and the American tendency to yearn for a past that may not have been as great as those who pine for it remember. NOSTALGIA Part 1 will feature short form performances that implement live music, puppetry, and film all hosted by "Mr. Ringo" a hypermodern twist on a Mister Rogers-esque character
portrayed by Cliff Burgess. The evening has been compared by its creative collaborators Paul Tei and Cliff Burgess to the impulse of channel flipping or the attention deficit style of storytelling and absurd humor that programs on Adult Swim may employ. This evening of comic short pieces include stories with the following titles: Dickhead, Charlie's Childhood: Everything Must Go!, The Sentimental Weatherman, 18 Shots, Miami Vices, and Skipper UpChuck. The evening of shorts are directed by Paul Tei, written by Paul Tei and Cliff Burgess, and features the following actors: Stephen G. Anthony, Jordon Armstrong, Cliff Burgess, Ryan Didato, George Fernandez, Jhaneal Hector, Noah Levine, Dan Leonard, Mike Sastre, Andre Morrissette, and David Nail. The following musicians will also be contributing: Matt Corey, Darren Bruck, Gram Cartridge, Chuy Palooka and the Barroom Junkies (OC punk band that composed original music for this production), and Meta Maniac.
NOSTALGIA Part 1 will be performed at Miami's The Bridge and will feature interactive live performances as well as film screenings. The evening will be presented as a limited engagement by Mad Cat Friday August 10th and Saturday August 11th at 8:00 pm.
