Kravis Center Begins Star Packed Season With Public Ticket Sale Day

With Public Ticket Sale Day
Saturday, September 24, Starting at 9 a.m.
Celebrating 20 Years of Artistic Excellence and Commitment to the Community, the Kravis Center Will Also Host an Open House with Backstage Tours, Entertainment, Refreshments, Fun Photo Opportunities, Local Radio Personalities & More - 8 a.m. to Noon.
The Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performance Arts will kick off its star-packed and show-filled 20th anniversary season with Public Ticket Sale Day & Open House. The exciting and eclectic array of International Artists and attractions from every discipline slated to appear at the Kravis Center include Broadway legend Bernadette Peters, talk show champion Larry King, song stylist supreme Diana Krall, the renowned Joffrey Ballet, inimitable funnymen Dennis Miller, Martin Short and Larry the Cable Guy and such major Kravis On Broadway hits as THE ADDAMS FAMILY, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES starring George Hamilton, HAIR, COME FLY AWAY and LES MISÉRABLES. *
The Kravis Center's Public Ticket Sale Day & Open House will include back stage tours, live entertainment, free refreshments such as made-to-order crepes and a scrumptious 20th anniversary cake, an appearance by Grover from SESAME STREET LIVE, coloring for kids and photo fun with familiar figures from THE ADDAMS FAMILY, so attendees should be sure and bring their cameras.
Doors open at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 24, with entertainment and refreshments starting at 8, back stage tours and ticket sales beginning at 9 a.m. and the official cutting of the 20th anniversary cake scheduled for 10.
Among those scheduled to be on hand for the Public Ticket Sale & Open House are strolling magician Ed Oschmann, juggler Crazy Eddy, Grover from SESAME STREET LIVE and radio personalities Joyce Kaufman from WFTL (8 to 10 a.m.) and Mo & Sally from KOOL 105.5 FM (10 a.m. to noon).
Tickets for the Kravis Center's 20th anniversary season will be available for purchase at the Kravis Center box office at 701 Okeechobee Blvd., online at www.kravis.org, or by phone at (561) 832-7469 or (800) 572-8471.
The Kravis Center's 2011-2012 season will feature two different Patti's (LaBelle and LuPone); two daytime legends on one stage (Regis Philbin and Susan Lucci); the Munich Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra and Moscow Classical Ballet; as well as musical tributes ranging from Tommy Dorsey to the fully staged rock concerts of Elvis Presley and Pink Floyd.
"Our upcoming 20th anniversary season will be particularly exciting," said Judith Mitchell, Chief Executive Officer of the Kravis Center. "With such a well-rounded roster of performances, the Kravis Center once again provides something for everyone and this season reflects our commitment to offer programming that is as diverse as the community we serve."
"From some of America's favorite musicals like DAMN YANKEES, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, MY FAIR LADY and SOUTH PACIFIC, as well as Broadway triumphs such as MAMMA MIA!, FOREVER TANGO and STOMP, this blockbuster lineup will offer an amazing array of Broadway fare, along with plenty of delights for those who love comedy, dance classical music and jazz," said Lee Bell, Senior Director of Programming at the Kravis Center.
In addition to performances in the 2,195-seat Alexander W. Dreyfoos, Jr. Concert Hall, the Kravis Center will present a diverse array of drama, music and dance in the intimate 289-seat Marshall E. Rinker, Sr. Playhouse, and the flexible Helen K. Persson Hall. Some of the Family Fare performances will be held in the outdoor Michael and Andrew Gosman Amphitheatre.
* NOTE: Of the five Kravis On Broadway shows scheduled for the 2011-2012 season, only tickets to THE ADDAMS FAMILY will go on sale to the public on September 24. The public sale date for the remaining shows are November 5 for HAIR, December 10 for LA CAGE AUX FOLLES starring George Hamilton and COME FLY AWAY, and December 17 for LES MISÉRABLES. Subscription tickets for Kravis On Broadway are still available for as little as $140.
