Jim Defede was a very popular columnist for the Miami Herald newspaper. Mr. Defede became 'part of the story' when Commissioner Art Teele shot himself to death outside Miami's City Hall. Jim Defede was subsequently fired by the Miami Herald for recording a phone conversation he had with the distraught Mr. Teele, shortly before Art Teele committed suicide.
On April 5th, 2006, Culture in the City opens the doors for its inaugural event at the Museum of Science/Planetarium on US1. It starts at 7:30 p.m. Complementary refreshments from 7:00 p.m. Open to the public. Cost: $10. Free parking.
