Broadway Theatre Project, one of the nation's premier training grounds for students of musical theatre, announces that award-winning dancer and choreographer, Karina Smirnoff, will join the Project's 2012 season in July as a Guest Artist. Smirnoff will speak with and teach dance technique to a class of approximately 200 high school and college students on one day during the program's three-week session to be held July 8-29, 2012. Exact date of her appearance will be announced separately.

This past Tuesday, Smirnoff, a professional dancer on the ABC hit television series Dancing With The Stars (DWTS), was presented the Winner of Season 13 on the show's Finale, along with her celebrity partner, US military hero and All My Children star J.R. Martinez. She has participated on the show since Season 3 in 2006, when she was partnered with actor and television host Mario Lopez.

Smirnoff, a native of Ukraine, arrived to DWTS with a plethora of accomplishments in ballroom dancing including five U.S. Latin Ballroom Championships, five-time champion at the Dutch
Open, three-time champion at the U.S. Open, two-time champion at the Asian Open, the U.K.
Open Championship and the World Trophy Championship. At one time, she was ranked the
number two ballroom dancer in the world. In June 2009, she made her Broadway debut in the
ballroom-themed show Burn the Floor.
