CATS, promises to bring the first beautiful memories of 2009 to fans of all ages when it plays the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami Dade County from Wednesday, December 31, 2008 through Sunday, January 4, 2009. 

The longest continuously touring show in American theater history, CATS has been seen by nearly nine million people, played in five continents and 26 countries, and continues to be one of America's most beloved family musicals.

Based on T.S. Eliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, and with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, CATS won seven 1983 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Lighting and Best Original Score.

Produced by Troika Entertainment with original direction by Trevor Nunn and choreography by Gillian Lynne, CATS has been credited with initiating the British invasion of Broadway. On May 11, 1981, CATS opened at the New London Theatre in the West End. Eight years and 3,358 performances later, CATS became the longest running musical in the history of British theater closing on its 21st birthday (May 11, 2002.)  

In 1982, CATS opened at the Winter Garden Theatre in New York City and continued to live up to its motto "Now and Forever." On June 19, 1997, CATS became the longest running musical on Broadway and continued its recordbreaking 18 year run until September 10, 2000. The national tour of CATS recently celebrated its 25th Anniversary.

Performances are Wednesday, December 31 through Sunday, January 4 in the Sanford and Dolores Ziff Ballet Opera House at the Adrienne Arsht Center with performance times Wednesday through Saturday evenings at 8pm, Sunday evening at 7:30pm with matinees Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 2pm.
