The Promethean Theatre's (TPT) 2006-07 Season

As the professional theatre company in residence at Nova
Southeastern University, TPT ushers in this new partnership with an
exciting 3rd season.

The Promethean Theatre announces its 2006-2007 season which will be
the first full season in residence at Nova Southeastern University,
Farquar College of Arts & Sciences. The entire season will be
performed in the beautiful Mailman Hollywood Theatre located on the
2nd floor of the Mailman Hollywood Center at 3301 College Ave., Ft
Lauderdale, FL 33314. Performances will be Friday & Saturday at
8:00pm and Sunday at 2:00 & 7:00pm.

The 2006-2007 season will open with the Florida premiere of AFTER
ASHLEY by Gina Gionfriddo (Safe, U.S. Drag, Guinevere.) One of the
hottest new playwrights, Gionfriddo has received an Obie Award, a
Guggenheim Fellowship, The Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, The Helen
Merrill Award for Emerging Playwrights, a Lucille Lortel Fellowship
and an American Theatre Critics Association/Steinberg Citation for
her work.

AFTER ASHLEY will run October 13-November 5, 2006. SYNOPSIS: In this
wickedly funny and heartbreakingly truthful satire, a teenage boy
navigating the joys and terrors of life, is unwillingly thrust into
the national spotlight when a family tragedy becomes talk-show
fodder. Focusing a critical eye on our obsession with reality TV and
public grieving, this critically-acclaimed new work takes a no-holds
barred look at how the American media blurs the line between
reporting the truth and exploiting it.

"Shrewd, dark comedy…absorbing and wholly unpredictable…AFTER ASHLEY
is a work that virtually any audience would find accessible." —NY
Times. "Sick, ugly, and brilliantly funny... In Gionfriddo's plays,
as in all great plays, no one is wrong, everyone is right." —
Brooklyn Rail. "Write down the name Gina Gionfriddo. Deft
characterization, caustic humor, and well-deployed nips at the
American slack moral conscience make AFTER ASHLEY one of the
necessary shows to see this year…a play for the decade." —NY Sun.
