Orpheum Announces 2011 Summer Movies & Memphis Film Fest

By:

The Orpheum Theatre has announced today the lineup for the 2011 Summer Movie Series, sponsored by Roadshow MINI, BB Kings, and Itta Bena.

New to the 2011 lineup is the addition of a month long Memphis Film Fest which features movies that have a Memphis connection. These movies were either filmed here (The Firm) or are about somebody in Memphis (The Blind Side) or starred a Memphian like Cybill Shepherd (Last Picture Show).

With MEMPHIS and Million Dollar Quartet set to hit The Orpheum stage, the new 2011-2012 Broadway Series has been appropriately deemed the "Memphis season." The Memphis Film Fest, which will take place during the month of July, will include pre-show talks and special guest appearances by some familiar faces in the Memphis film scene.

Jam-packed with classic movie hits and cult favorites, The Orpheum's 2011 Summer Movie Series offers big entertainment at a small price. In addition to award winning, critically acclaimed classic films, The Orpheum offers pre-show activities such as trivia contests, fashion shows, dance lessons, themed costume contests, vintage film shorts, and even a mini-concert on The Orpheum's own Mighty Wurlitzer Organ before each feature film.
