Penobscot Theatre Company will be offering summer day camps at the Bangor Opera House for students ages 4 to 20. There will be two summer camp sessions, each three weeks long. The first session will run from Monday, July 2 to Friday, July 20. The second session will run from Monday, July 23 to Friday, August 10.

PTC's Dramatic Academy offers a number of electives, lunch field trips, and exposure to a variety of theater disciplines. During camp, students can explore acting, dancing, singing, puppeteering and much more in our newly expanded summer program. Penobscot Theatre is the only training program in the area where students of all ages can study with highly trained industry professionals.

Our Tiny Thespians, ages 4-7, will work with our guest teaching-artist Georgia Zildjian to create and perform a short play from an existing storybook. This camp will conclude in a showcase for friends and family. Our Youth Troupe, ages 8-13, will work with PTC's resident playwright Andrew Frodahl ("The Velveteen Rabbit", "The Blueberry Balladeer") to create an original one act play, which will be performed for an audience of friends, family, and students from other area camps.

Throughout the summer there will also be two youth musicals for students ages 8 to 13: "Winnie the Pooh" and "Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr." and two young adult musicals for students ages 14 to 20: "Into the Woods, Jr." and "Spring Awakening."

Tuition for each session ranges from $100 to $400, depending on age and choice of program. Tuition includes a choice of electives, a copy of each script to keep, and a PTC Camp t-shirt. Scholarships, sibling discounts, multiple-program discounts, and payment plans are available.

Penobscot Theatre Company is also offering a brand-new, two-week Advanced Actor/Playwright Lab from Monday, June 18 to Friday, June 29. In this lab setting, aspiring actors and playwrights will collaborate to create a new piece of theater. Designed as a master class, this session will culminate in a performance at our Northern Writes Play Festival. Instructors include Bruce Pratt and Jasmine Ireland. This class is for students ages 14 and up. Tuition is $300.
