Maine State Music Theatre (MSMT)'s 2014 season is "still rockin'" with their remarkable season closing production of the high-energy dance musical, FOOTLOOSE, running today, August 6 - 23.

FOOTLOOSE is a high-energy dance musical full of spectacular dancing and heartfelt songs.

"Two full length movies and a Broadway musical based on the same story makes Footloose a juggernaut of a title," says Artistic Director Curt Dale Clark.

FOOTLOOSE thrilled Broadway audiences for nearly two years. It's a story of American spirit - a carefree city kid transplanted to a conservative rural town where rock 'n roll and dancing are forbidden, who takes on the authorities, makes all the right moves, and wins the girl.

FOOTLOOSE features chart-topping music ("Almost Paradise," "Holding Out For A Hero," and "Let's Hear It For The Boy"). The score contains music and lyrics by Tom Snow and Dean Pitchford, with additional music by Eric Carmen, Sammy Hagar, Kenny Loggins, and Jim Steinman.

The cast of FOOTLOOSE will be led by Eric Sciotto (Broadway's Annie Get Your Gun, AIDA, 42nd Street, A Chorus Line and Priscilla Queen of the Desert) as Ren McCormack and Kristen Martin (Broadway's Spiderman - Turn Off the Dark, 1st national tour of A Chorus Line, Asia tour of 42nd Street) as Ariel Moore. Also featured will be David Ruprecht (Television's True Blood and Supermarket Sweep, and Broadway's Perfectly Frank), as Reverend Shaw Moore, Heidi Kettenring as Vi Moore, MSMT favorite Charis Leos as Ethel McCormack, Tim Hughes as Willard, Cary Michelle Miller as Rusty, Eric Shorey as Cowboy Bob, Will Ray as Chuck Cranston, Jim Ruttman as Wes Warnicker, Lori Eure as Lulu Warnicker, and David Girolmo as Coach Dunbar.

The company of FOOTLOOSE also includes Edward Andrew Lawrence, Samantha Lea Hewes, Sarah Marie Jenkins, Blair Best, Kenny Fancoeur, and Silas Moores and Alex Larson.

The creative team for FOOTLOOSE includes award-winning Patti Colombo (Director/Choreographer), Karl Warden (Associate Director/Choreographer), Aaron McAllister (Musical Director), Charles S. Kading (Scenic Designer), Kurt Alger (Costume Designer), and Dan Efros (Lighting Designer).

Maine State Music Theatre's entire 2014 Season is sponsored by The Highlands and Highland Green. FOOTLOOSE is sponsored by The Brunswick Hotel & Tavern, Dead River Company and Coastal Orthopedics & Sports Medicine.
