ANYTHING GOES At Hackmatack Runs Through 7/25

By: Jul. 07, 2009

The late Ethal Merman starred in the musical Anything Goes when it opened on Broadway in 1934. The farce is set below decks on an ocean liner bound from London to New York City. The show opens this week at Hackmatack's barn theatre in Berwick featuring Linette Miles, Laura Loy, Carol Seeley, and Tom Morin.

Anything Goes is the first musical production this season at the Hackmatack Playhouse in Berwick, considered one of New England's most charming and quaint summer theatres.

Anything Goes at The Hackmatack is directed and staged by Steve Small. After several summers at Hackmatack Playhouse on stage and behind the scenes, this is Steve's first time directing. He said, "This directing job is such a great experience. I can't think of a better show to start my directing career!"

Tickets for Anything Goes at Hackmatack Playhouse, 538 School Street, Berwick, Maine, range from $10 to $22. Visit www.Hackmatack.org or call (207) 698-1807.

Anything Goes runs July 8 through July 25th with Wednesday through Saturday shows at 8 pm, and Matinees Thursdays at 2:00. The entertainment continues at Hackmatack Playhouse this season with The Mystery of Edwin Drood running July 29 through August 8; the Children's Camp Show is Pirates of Penzance, 10 AM on July 31, August 1, 7, and 8; and August 12 through 29 will feature Mel Brooks' madcap musical, The Producers.

This is Hackmatack's 37th season.
