It tells the true story of what happened in Gander, Newfoundland, during the week following the September 11 attacks.
When U.S. airspace closed, 38 commercial planes carrying nearly 7,000 stranded passengers were forced to land at Gander International Airport. The small local town—which had a population of roughly 9,000—doubled in size overnight. The residents opened their homes, schools, and hearts to feed, clothe, and care for the global travelers.
