Stage One Family Theatre Opens 65th Season with Ferdinand the Bull

Yum! Family Series Program and Stage One Family Theatre will kick off the 65th season of theater for young audiences with the literary classic Ferdinand the Bull.

A young reader's tale brought to life! With Spanish influences, Ferdinand the Bull is a musical infused with Spanish language, music, dance and art! "Ferdy" is an easy-going, flower-loving bull, whose best friend, the star-struck pig Cochina, takes them to Madrid. There, Ferdy meets the unhappy Danilo, a boy torn between his own dreams and his father's desires. Their dramatic encounter has a happy ending that shows how important it is to be true to one's self. Ferdinand the Bull will be playing October 15 & 22 at 11 a.m. & 2 p.m. in the Bomhard Theater of The Kentucky Center. Recommended for Ages 4-8.

This fun loving musical is based on the book The Story of Ferdinand, by celebrated children's author Munro Leaf, and is celebrating 75 years in print. The story was adapted to a short film in 1938 by Walt Disney, which won the Oscar for Best Short Subject (cartoons). A feature length film has recently been announced by 20th Century Fox. The book also made a cameo in the film The Blind Side.
