The Garage Theatre founders believed that independent non-commercial theatre is vital to the future of the art form. The Garage Theatre is a collaborative ensemble that strives to create a diverse body of work, take artistic risks, and uncover social and human truths. We are committed to reaching a new theatre audience by producing affordable works in a unique voice.
In 2001 The Garage Theatre set out to provide the Long Beach community an affordable, intimate, alternative theatre experience. After producing shows at various locations around Long Beach, The Garage Theatre settled into their humble storefront on 7th street in 2005 and began providing year-round programming. Over the years The Garage Theatre has produced 22 World Premieres and has twice been voted the Best Theatre Company in Long Beach (LBPost) and the Best Alternative Theatre (OC Weekly.) 2020 marked The Garage Theatre’s 20th Anniversary and it has no plans of letting up.
