Hiromi's Sonicwonder, led by pianist Hiromi Uehara, will perform at the Orpheum Theatre on May 1, 2026, as a pre-festival event for the inaugural Santa Monica International Jazz Festival. The festival, presented by BroadStage, SM Festivals, and the City of Santa Monica, runs May 1–9, 2026, and features a lineup of global jazz artists across multiple venues. The May 9th finale at Tongva Park will headline double Grammy winner Kamasi Washington alongside artistic director Stanley Clarke, who will lead Stanley Clarke and Friends in a tribute to Miles Davis and John Coltrane, joined by Stewart Copeland of The Police. Saxophonists Lakecia Benjamin and Isaiah Collier will celebrate John Coltrane's centennial at BroadStage on May 8th, while LA's KNOWER and the Miles Electric Band, fronted by Vince Wilburn, Jr., will also perform at the finale.
