Geffen Playhouse has released a new behind-the-scenes video from the rehearsal room of Angry, Raucous, and Shamelessly Gorgeous, the upcoming comedy by award-winning playwright Pearl Cleage.
Directed by Tony Award nominee LaTanya Richardson Jackson and produced in association with Black Rebirth Collective, the production will begin previews on June 10 ahead of its official opening on June 18. The limited engagement runs through July 12 in the Gil Cates Theater.
Angry, Raucous, and Shamelessly Gorgeous follows Anna Campbell, a celebrated actress whose return to the United States in hopes of staging a career-defining comeback sparks a collision with a younger generation that challenges her past, her politics, and her place within the movement she helped shape.
The cast features Charlayne Woodard, Denise Burse, Olivia Washington, and Deborah Joy Winans.
The creative team includes scenic designer Beowulf Boritt, Costume Designer Emilio Sosa, lighting designer Lap Chi Chu, sound designer Jeff Gardner, projection designer Hana S. Kim, and hair and wig designer George Robert Fuller.
