The Maverick Theater Opens AMADEUS, 2/15
The Maverick Theater will present Peter Shaffer's Amadeus, winner of five Tony Awards - including Best Play - and eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture, for the 1984 film adaptation. The Maverick first produced Amadeus in 2003.
Amadeus is described as "a gripping drama and a wonderful celebration of the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The story is revealed through the narration of an Old Antonio Salieri flashing back to 1781 when he was the court composer to Emperor Joseph II. Then Mozart arrives at court and Salieri is horrified to discover that the godlike musical gifts he desires for himself have been bestowed upon a bawdy, impish jokester. Mad with envy, Salieri plots to destroy Mozart by any means - perhaps even murder."
Directed by Brian Newell, Amadeus opens February 15th and runs through March 23rd. Performances are 8:00 p.m. Fri. and Sat., 5:00 p.m. Sun. Tickets are $20.00 general, $10.00 for students with a current I.D. Tickets may be purchased online at www.mavericktheater.com or by calling 714-526-7070. The Maverick Theater is located at 110 E. Walnut, Fullerton, CA 92832, across from the Amtrak station in historic Downtown Fullerton.
