The Katselas Theatre Company continues its landmark 2009-2010 Season with the World Premiere of Detention of the Dead by Robert Rinow, directed by Alex Craig Mann. Producing is Gary Grossman. The production opens Saturday, November 7 (10pm) at the Beverly Hills Playhouse Research Space.

Detention of the Dead is a stage comedy...with a bite! High school sucks, especially when zombies attack. Five disparate high school students find themselves trapped in detention together after their school is overrun with Zombies. Between tormenting the decapitated zombie head of their former math teacher, getting stoned, and mocking each other every chance they get, these students have a hell of a night ahead of them.

Robert Rinow's plays have been performed in theatres in L.A., Chicago and across the country. His first feature length film, The Cell 2, was released this summer by New Line Cinema. Rob attained his Masters in Creative Writing from the University of California Riverside. Rob is also trained improviser who performed at the Improv Olympic, Comedy Sports, and Playground theatres in Chicago.
Alex Craig Mann has enjoyed an extensive career as a stage, television and film actor. In 2004, he directed Eric Bogosian's Suburbia, for which he won the Ticket Holder Award for Best Director. He followed that with several critical and box office successes: Neil LaBute's Autobahn, John Patrick Shanley's Savage in Limbo and the world premier of the highly touted award winning play by Bruce J. Robinson, Another Vermeer. He is currently signed to direct the 2005 runner up for the Pulitzer Prize, The Clean House, by Sarah Ruhl. Recently, he made his In venture into filmmaking with his two shorts, Benny and Love & Marriage.

The production features Mike Horton, Crystle Lightning, Michael Petted, Samantha Sloyan and Alex Weed. The design team includes: Jeff McLaughlin (Sets and Lighting), David Bartlett (Sound), Eric Hwang (Technical advisor) and Rowland Hamilton (Production Stage Manager).
