Photo Flash: Grey's Anatomy Star Loretta Devine Sells Out at Upright Cabaret
The incomparable Film, T.V. and Broadway star Loretta Devine (Oscar Winning Best Picture CRASH, WAITING TO EXHALE, TV: Boston Public, Grey's Anatomy, Broadway: Dreamgirls (OBC)) performed three sold-out concerts at L.A.'s famed Upright Cabaret located within the Vermont Restaurant complex on 1714 N. Vermont Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90027.
Although always lending her voice to benefit many causes in Los Angeles and New York City, these unforgettable evenings were Ms. Devine's first solo concerts in more than 20 years prompting former original Broadway cast member of Dreamgirls Sheryl Lee Ralph to proclaim "I'm inspired by her work tonight!". The evenings of original, standard and contemporary songs included songs like Michael Jackson's "Gotta Be Startin' Somethin", "One Night Only" from Dreamgirls, "I Can't Make You Love Me" , and the crowd pleasing "Bust The Windows" which Ms. Devine dedicated to Tiger Woods.
Filled with a star studded audience which included Star Jones, Lela Rechon (Waiting to Exhale), James Pickens, Jr. (Grey's Anatomy), Ken Page (Dreamgirls), Sheryl Lee Ralph (Dreamgirls), Hattie Winston (Becker), Harold Wheeler (Music Director from Dancing with the Stars), Tony Nominee Valarie Pettiford, Ty Taylor (Rockstar INXS), Broadway's Jennifer Leigh Warren, Nita Whitaker, and many more, the concert was Music Directed by San Francisco native Kelly Park.
